TRUCK is moving!

After 17year in the basement of the Grain Exchange Building, TRUCK Gallery is on the move.

Well we finally did it! We thought we would kick off our 30th anniversary year with a bang by opening a new gallery location. This fall TRUCK Gallery will be moving to a new, larger, accessible, street level gallery space located in Sunalta community. For the past 17 year TRUCK Gallery has made the basement of the Grain exchange Building its home. In that time we have presented the highest quality contemporary art programming in Calgary, in one of the most distinctive and truly underground cultural venues of our city.

Our activities have outgrown our current space and after 2 decades in the basement, a number of flooding incidents, a substandard electrical grid, and a large number of hot and humid opening reception, we look forward to launching our amazing new space in the Sunalta community.

This coming September will be our 30th anniversary, and to celebrate artist-run culture in Calgary, and our 30th year of operations, on September 28th 2013, we will launch our new space with a massive 30th Anniversary group exhibition showcasing works by some of Calgary's emerging artists. We will also re-launch The Parkade project space as a black box new media/installation gallery, with the work of Calgary-based artist Linda Carreiro.

Later in the month of September we will also be participating in Intersite Visual Arts Festival with a collaborative work by Robyn Moody (Calgary) and Denton Fredrickson (Lethbridge). Presented the same night as TRUCK’s 30th Birthday Party.

The September opening of the new venue promises to be an event to be remembered, that is if we can get it all done this summer. We will continue to present our Main space, +15 and CAMPER programming up to and during our renovations and move. So to say we will be busy this summer is a bit of an understatement. But this level of activity continues to fuel our excitement about our new gallery space - we can literally drive the CAMPER into the Main exhibition space - so "what now is possible" in our gallery motivates us to establish an artist-run contemporary art space that our Members deserve.

We will keep you posted as this project develops!
